Computer Competency Testing

Lord Fairfax Community College requires each degree-seeking student to demonstrate proficiency in using a Windows-based operating system, along with components of an integrated productivity software package, including word processing, spreadsheet, database, presentation and/or communication applications. LFCC students may demonstrate computer competency through the following options:

  1. Successful completion of a computer course such as CSC 155 or ITE 115 (formerly IST 117)
  2. Successful completion of the Computer Competency Exam-Internet & Computing Core Certification-IC3 Exam available through the College's Testing Center

The College provides a set of computer competency exams in its Testing Center. Students wishing to demonstrate proficiency in the required core computer competencies in lieu of registering for CSC 155 or ITE 115 may take these exams. In order to demonstrate proficiency, a student must pass all 3 exams.
